Come Play Cards With the Maytag Repairman

maytagrepairmanBecause he has absolutely nothing else to do, the Maytag Repairman is visiting a couple Warner Stellian Appliance stores this Thursday, Oct. 11.

The iconic figure has been biding his time since 1967 (see

), though he looks a little different these days: younger, more technologically inclined as Maytag adds innovation to its reputation as dependable. (i.e. my Maytag refrigerator exceeds federal energy standards by 30%, putting it in the Tier 3 category of CEE ratings.)

But he’s still absolutely available. So cards it is.

His likely adept skills at solitaire won’t necessarily translate to Go Fish. So come try your hand and give him some company.

If cards aren’t your thing, we’ll take your picture and get you an autograph.

Thursday, We’ll be at our Edina appliance store, 3533 W. 70th St. (across from the Galleria) from 9-10 a.m.

Then we’ll hop over to our Falcon Heights/Roseville/St. Paul appliance store (so amazing it has three names around here), 1711 N. Snelling St. (two blocks north of the State Fairgrounds), from 11-noon.

Hope to see you there.

Customer Appreciation Sale Contest

Recently, we realized that although we excel at providing excellent appliance experiences from selection to installation, we’re horrible archivists.

Thus, we’re bribing you all to help us out.

In conjunction with our Customer Appreciation Sale, celebrating almost 60 years as Minnesota’s appliance specialist, Warners’ Stellian is gathering the best original stories, memories, photos — you name it — of our past and present.

Send us your stories, photos, Warners’ Stellian “swag,” receipts — you name it.

ImageWe’ll reward the owner of our favorite submission with a Romantic Winter Weekend Getaway to Grand View Lake Lodge in Brainerd worth over $630. The getaway package includes two nights lodging, breakfast, a $100 Dining Card and a Couples Massage at the beautiful Glacial Waters Spa (good on Friday evening or Sunday morning of the stay). The stay is good from Nov. 15, 2012 through March 3, 2012.

For an example of what we’re looking for, check out this blog about a time when our delivery crew went above and beyond.

Tour the Beautiful Homes of Summit Hill

I think a lot of us, especially those who grew up near St. Paul, went (or still go!) to “see the houses on Summit.” Just driving by these beautiful, storied mansions imparts such a feeling of awe and wonder (especially about what’s inside, right?).

Well, every two years, the Summit Hill Association offers you the chance to indulge your curiosities and — for one day — peek into the history of its popular neighborhood during the Summit Hill House Tour. This year’s tour is this Sunday, Sept. 9 from noon to 6 p.m.

Again this year, Warner Stellian is the proud presenting sponsor of the self-guided tour, which includes about 12 private home interiors. Residents of Summit Hill have been our loyal customers for years, and we’ve enjoyed outfitting their homes with the finest appliances as well.

We hope you can join us, either by buying a ticket and going on the tour or by signing up to volunteer (then your ticket is free and you get to come to the afterparty!).

The history of the tour, from its website:

Since it began in 1972, the Summit Hill House Tour has been a hit for Twin Cities’ folks and those far beyond the metro area. In fact, it is one of the most popular historic house tours in the nation. This biennial event (every even year) is the major fund-raiser for the Summit Hill Association (SHA) that supports every program or event sponsored by SHA. The programs and events include — communications (newsletter and website), promotion and recruitment of citizen volunteers, crime prevention block and building clubs organizing, neighborhood review of zoning applications, annual clean-up drives, park and Grand Avenue  “greening” beautification efforts, recycling, traffic calming and much more!

Appliance Energy Savings on a Stick

Come

Warner Stellian enjoys a storied history with the State Fairgrounds. And for the last few years, our appliances have made a comeback appearance at the Minnesota State Fair.

The Eco Experience, located in the Progress Center on Randall Avenue, brings together organizations, ideas, and hands-on activities to show what the fair-goers what they can do at home to help the environment.

(By the way…while you’re saving the environment…By replacing your refrigerator, washer, dishwasher and freezer from the 1980s to new Energy Star appliances you can save an average $350 a year in energy costs. Save away!)

Warners’ Stellian is partnering with the Fair again this year to demonstrate the options for choosing energy efficient applicances. Our display consists of a vignette of a kitchen (with island cabinet) and ENERGY STAR refrigeratordishwasher, and other appliances with an adjacent laundry room demonstrating a HE washer and dryer.

ENERGY STAR qualified appliances incorporate advanced technologies that use up to 50% less energy and water than older models. If you’re already in the market for new appliances, choosing ENERGY STAR appliances over standard appliances will cost you an average $80 less annually in water and energy (even if they cost a few more smackeroos upfront).

Also included is an ENERGY STAR freezer, air conditioner and dehumidifier.

You’ll find tips on how to decrease the energy you use on the appliances you already own.

If you like PowerPoint, awkward blondes and saving energy, come see me at the Eco Experience Sustainability Stage this Sunday, Aug. 26 at 2:30 p.m. I’ll be showing you how to save money and energy both when you purchase new appliances  and when you use what you’ve already got at home.

Clean Clothes in Under Half an Hour

Pig-Pen

Do you really want to be “that mom”?

It’s an hour till game time and you’re searching for your kid’s jersey only to find it in a ball, covered in dirt.

Sound familiar?

Before you give into being “that mom” with the dirty-shirt kid, you should know that someone created a get out of jail free card for this situation.

The Electrolux Perfect Steam washer and dryer boast the fastest wash & dry time, totaling 29 minutes. Electrolux dryer showing fast dry time - 14 minutes

That’s faster than the first half of your kid’s game. The Electrolux steam washer washes in just 15 minutes, and the Electrolux steam dryer gets your clothes dry in just 14 minutes.

Plus, the Electrolux laundry will actually get it clean. All the grass and dirt stains and sports drinks spills will be gone without a second thought from you.

Those of us without kids who just happen to be as messy as a child can also appreciate the last-minute, life-saving abilities of the Fast Wash/Fast Dry cycle.

And if it’s simply wrinkled, the steam dryer can refresh it in 15 minutes — eliminating odors too! How handy is that?
