What’s you’ll see at the Warners Stellian Warehouse Sale

March 12, 2010

So, we have some pretty sweet deals on hand for this weekend’s Extreme Warehouse Sale.

While quantities last, we have three pairs of laundry that have been priced to move:

(gas dryer extra on first and third pictured pair)

And those looking for a new refrigerator have the chance to get a LG French-door refrigerator at rock-bottom prices.

But, quantities are limited, so deals can only last as long as your fellow customers allow them to.

We’re getting A LOT of calls from people with specific model numbers in mind, wanting to know what products would be included in our sale.

He was very understanding when I explained to him that we have more than 2,000 products on display for this sale.

And truly don’t know what’s down there until we see it all Saturday morning!

But with more than 2,000 products, we generally have something for everyone, or at least for the majority of the nearly 2,400 groups of customers that came out for our last warehouse sale.

Other big discounts include an Energy Star Maytag dishwasher in stainless steel for $349 and a stainless steel Fridgidaire self-clean gas range for $499, while quantities last (both pictured below).

A selection of brands that “never go on sale” will be available (again, while quantities last), including Sub-Zero, Wolf, Viking, Liebherr and Electrolux. Customers can save up to 80% on professional-style built-in models. Jenn-Air wall ovens, for example, will start at $599 and you can save $1,000 off Electrolux French-door ice & water refrigerators.

We’ll have some of my personal favorite, steam laundry, at the sale for $1499 for a washer/dryer pair.

Maybe your kitchen and laundry room is all set, but you’ve got your eye on a grill or wine refrigerator. We’ll have those, along with Miele vacuums starting at $329.

Warners’ Stellian Warehouse Sale: Extreme preparation

March 12, 2010

To give you an idea of just how seriously we at Warners’ Stellian take our Extreme Warehouse Sale

It's kind of blurry, but only because the girl taking it was shaking with envy.

Two of our customer service reps, Amy and Paula, and I got our nails done festively in anticipation of our big sale this Saturday and Sunday (yellow and black are our colors for the sale; red and black are our normal logo colors).

Yet another shameless Warners' Stellian promotion from yours truly

We three will be among nearly 60 workers entering orders in the checkout area, trying to keep the process as efficient as possible.

I guess you could say it’s all hands on deck.

I think we’ll really nail it.

OK, that’s about all the groaners I can come up with for now.

HOW TO: Shop the Warners’ Stellian Warehouse Sale like a pro

Want more? Sign up for our eClub and never miss a sale

This blog post, originally published last November, remains one of my most-viewed posts. So I’m reposting it — with a few edits — because like I say, this ain’t no Macy’s clearance rack.

What is it with us Midwesterners and our deal-bragging? You know: upon receiving a compliment, we gloat about the gasp-worthy low price we got it for — unsolicited. Perhaps it’s because we fancy ourselves pro deal hunters.

But our Extreme Warehouse Sale this Saturday (7-5:30) and Sunday (10-5) is no Macy’s clearance rack. I’m talkin’ big-ticket items at huge discounts: you need to prepare a bit. The savings are so hot, all sales are final.

Luckily for you, I’ve compiled the secrets of the pros — tips that will prepare any appliance rookie for the big league.

WarnersStellian1

Here are some Extreme Warehouse Sale pros, lined up before the doors open.

Before the sale

measuring tape
Don’t be a fool; Use this tool.

Measure your space
Don’t learn the hard way: there is no “standard” in appliance sizes. Use a measuring tape on the available space — not the existing appliance — and write down dimensions to bring to the sale.

Also, measure the width of the doorways and staircases the appliance will need to travel through.

Know your fuel type
You’ll need to know whether you have a gas or electric hookup when buying a dryer, a range or a cooktop.

Consider your hinges
For example, some refrigerators on sale will be left hinge only. Wouldn’t it be terrible to find a great deal on a fridge only to get it home and not be able to open it? Also know what side you want the hinges on a front-load washer and any type of dryer, in case there’s an option.

Do some research
We’ll have more than 2,000 appliances available at the start of the sale, so have something in mind to avoid frustration. The best tip? Know what you like and don’t like about your existing model. Check out our Web site for more ideas on what features are important to you.

If you’re purchasing as part of the Minnesota Trade-In & Save Appliance Rebate Program, check out qualifying Energy Star models.

Get preapproved
You MUST pay for your purchase at the time of sale, though we certainly have financing options to help you pay. Save time by getting approved online at home. Just make sure to bring in your approval slip with your new account number for our files.

Also, even if you’re financing the purchase, you must pay the sales tax at the time of sale.

The day of the sale

Buy a MN rebate-qualified product
If you’re shopping for a refrigerator, freezer, washer or dishwasher to submit a state appliance rebate, let your salesperson know that so they can help you find a qualified Energy Star model.

744336_pick-upBring a hauling vehicle
Usually, we offer free delivery on purchases $499 and above, but this sale is anything but usual. Our warehouse is full of products, so we encourage customers to take their purchases with them the day of the sale. We’ll help you load it up and everything.

If you’re picking and a new refrigerator or freezer as part of the MN rebate program, bring your old refrigerator or freezer for us to recycle as well as your “Proof of Demanufacturing” forms for us to sign.

If you do choose to have it delivered, it’s $75 and you must take delivery within 30 days. Application forms for the state rebate program must be postmarked within 30 days of your rebate reservation date.

Know your schedule
We’ll arrange for delivery and any installation for built-in appliances (available for additional charges) at the time of sale. We’ll call you the day before the delivery with an AM/PM estimate and our crew can call you before they arrive if you need to meet them at your house.

It's a warehouse, not a playhouse. Bring a stroller!

Pack a stroller
Our warehouse is a warehouse. It’s clean and safe, but it’s also big and crowded and without a play area. Strollers work well to keep small children nearby when you’re shopping the selection. We’ll have cookies and water on hand, as well as children’s areas with movies and coloring books near the checkout areas.

After the sale

Submit state rebate application
If you have a rebate reservation or waiting list reservation for a dishwasher or clothes washer, you can send in your application form along with a copy of your receipt immediately after the sale.  Those who purchased a refrigerator or freezer and dropped off their old unit should have our warehouse crew sign their “Proof of Demanufacturing” form and send that in along with their completed application form and receipt.

Those receiving delivery of a refrigerator or freezer for the rebate program should have our delivery crew sign their “Proof of Demanufacturing” form when we haul away their old unit for recycling. That form then should be sent in with the rebate application and receipt.

Receive delivery/install time estimate
You’ll receive a call with an AM/PM estimate the day before your scheduled delivery and/or install.

Apply for manufacturers’ rebates
You could qualify for even more savings by manufacturers’ rebate. Once you receive your product, you can fill in the serial number (the delivery crew can help you locate this) on your rebate forms and submit them promptly, as they expire. Be patient, as rebates can take 12 weeks to process.

Don't waste your investment because you lack product knowledge.

Read your manual
Knowing your new product can help you save time and improve the quality of your cooking and cleaning. Stow it somewhere memorable to refer to for troubleshooting and general operation questions.

Don’t ignore accessories

If you get a dishwasher, buy rinse aid to help dry your dishes. If you buy a smooth-top electric range, you’ll want cooktop cleaner to keep it looking new. The water filter in your fridge will need to be replaced every six to 12 months. And please, for the sake of your breathing, don’t overstuff your vacuum bags!

Visit my blog
Every Wednesday, I attack the FAQs plaguing our industry. Hard-hitting questions like, “Why is my washer smelly?” and “How do I clean stainless steel?” It’s also an easy way to reach me if you need help. Plus, you’ll be the first to know about the next Extreme Sale!

Warners’ Stellian Warehouse Sale: It’s baa-ack…

March 8, 2010

Warners’ Stellian’s semiannual Extreme Warehouse Sale is less than a week away.

Like before every sale, we’re super slammed getting ready, so I’ll give you the fast 5 Ws (and one H):

What: Hundreds of appliances below cost – including brands that “never go on sale.” Seriously, there are thousands of deals on closeout models, floor models, scratch and dent items, discontinued models and even new, in-box “special buys” we make specifically for this sale. All items come with full factory warranty. Delivery will $75 to the metro area, so take your purchase with you for maximum savings. Professional installation is available for built-in items.

When: Saturday, March 13 from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 14 from 10 to 5.

Where: Warners’ Stellian’s St. Paul Warehouse, approximately 1 mile north of 94 off Dale Street.

Who: Thousands of deal-seeking Minnesotans (and Western Wisconsinites!). We counted about 2,600 “groups” (we don’t count people individually because people usually make purchases as a family/couple) last November. For our part, we’ll have 60 salespeople helping customers select the right product and 60 people helping customers check out, plus more workers helping customers load purchases into their car, directing traffic, etc.

How: We prepare half the year for this sale, and it’s been so successful that manufacturers have gotten behind it and helped us offer deals worth getting excited about.

Why: Because we love you? Yes. But mostly because you love deals. For your friends and family members (and maybe even you) who didn’t get an appliance stimulus rebate reservation, there are deals that will leave just as much if not more cash in your hand — just not in the form of a check from the government.

An Extreme recap

November 16, 2009

I think we’re all pretty tired after our Extreme Warehouse Sale, which happened this Saturday and Sunday. So I’m going to recap this in numbers and pictures.

Saturday 8 a.m.-ish (Thanks for making this our biggest line ever!)

By the numbers

4 a.m.: Time the first customer arrived to stand in line

wsextreme

Our first-in-line customer celebrated as we opened the doors at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

380: Customer groups (whether individual, couple or family) through our doors in the first 15 minutes

20: Dozens of doughnut holes served to customers waiting in line for the doors to open Saturday

wsextreme3

Apparently, Jeff Warner said something funny. Or maybe they just want to keep him happy so the cart keeps coming around...

2,350: Total customer groups through our doors

145: Workers (sales, office, warehouse, merchandising, etc.)

The most fun you can have in a warehouse, hands down.

35: Average total orders each checkout worker entered on Saturday

70: Gallons of coffee we went through Saturday and Sunday

16: Total hours of the sale

130: Yards of checkout line (below left),  which warehouse manager Steve Washenberger (below right) pointed out is just shy of what Adrian Peterson had against the Lions on Sunday. The longest wait was about 90 minutes, and we had more than 30 people entering orders as efficiently as possible!

We set lofty goals for this season’s sale. And thanks to everyone who came and took advantage of our deals, we met those goals.

Sales associates, customer service reps, warehouse crew, merchandising department, marketing, HR, accounting — EVERYONE at Warners’ Stellian comes together for our Extreme Warehouse Sale, whether here or at the stores. That’s really the only time we really get to do that.

Everyone’s walking around here a little happier, and we’re definitely stronger than we were on Friday.

Thank you.

Friday links: We’re fun, beautiful and cheap (this weekend, at least)!

November 13, 2009

You only get three links this Friday. I’m saving my energy for writing up orders at tomorrow’s Extreme Warehouse Sale.

‘How dare you call my family member beautiful!’

Tom Barnard and crew at 92-KQRS Morning Show, which apparently we sponsored the other day, referenced past experiences with Mr. Warner (aka my dad) before the conversation inevitably turned to Carla — who is always a good sport. We got a kick out of it, so you might too.

Deal Spotter: Weekend sales

After getting a preview tour of our Extreme Warehouse Sale on Wednesday, Star Tribune columnist John Ewoldt included us in his latest blog post. (Notice the $15 off Facebook coupon plug. Actually, don’t just notice it. Go after it!)

Kitchen Design Notes And Experiences

A favorite blogger of mine, kitchen designer Susan Serra, shared real-life scenarios to drive home the fact that you should NEVER stop asking questions during the design process or else…

(“Or else what?”)

Or else you’ll end up with an unreturnable built-in fridge — that’s what!

STrib’s John Ewoldt: Don’t wait for the stimulus, buy now!

November 12, 2009

Star Tribune columnist John Ewoldt included this weekend’s Extreme Warehouse Sale in Thursday’s Variety section:

You could wait for the “dollars for dishwashers” rebate program next year, but I’ll wager that sale prices will dry up due to the rebate. For a better deal now, try Warners’ Stellian appliances extreme warehouse sale (550 Atwater Circle, St. Paul, 651-222-0011, www.warnersstellian.com). It’s from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Many appliances, including overstocks and scratch-and-dents, are offered below cost. Others in boxes are special purchases for the event.

2steals1112

An early view of the Extreme Warehouse Sale setup, as seen in Thursday's Star Tribune.

He restated his “buy now for a better deal” point on WCCO-830 radio this morning (click here to listen: JohnEwoldt-ExtremeSale — the end got cut off because my cell phone is archaic).

He’s absolutely right that the deals now will be better than the federal Energy Star rebate program slated for March. Details should be released around next week, but I think it’s safe to say the program will likely offer only one rebate per household ($100-$200) and the supply will be limited.

Extreme(ly excited) Warehouse Sale

November 9, 2009

It’s finally here: the week of our Extreme Warehouse Sale.

I would say that people here get way too excited about this sale, but I think customers’ past experiences here would justify our enthusiasm.

jeffwarnercoffee

President Jeff Warner serves coffee from a beverage backpack to the est. 200-300 people who waited in line for our doors to open before March's sale.

Our crew is working like crazy to turn our warehouse into a showroom where more than 2,000 appliances will be offered at insane prices this Saturday and Sunday.

We went down there and took some pictures of the progress Friday and posted them to Facebook, but we won’t finish getting the floor models, closeouts, blemished items, etc. from our store locations until Wednesday.

ProStyleRangesElectroluxLaundryPairsWarnersStellian5

And then, our team still will be pricing until about 1 a.m. Saturday — chowing White Castle sliders, as tradition holds — to get everything ready for the thousands of deal-shoppers who will walk through the doors this weekend.

Fans of our Facebook page and our followers on Twitter will get exclusive coupons, so join up! We rely on your help to spread the word to all your family and friends to continuing making this biannual sale a possibility — and helping people get some bragworthy finds in the process.

Here’s a video of last year’s fall sale, which is already much smaller than the sale we’re having this weekend:
