Spotlight Series: Meet Receiving/Shipping Manager Aaron Milles

Meet Aaron Milles from our St. Paul Warehouse!

What is your role at Warners’ Stellian?

Receiving/Shipping Manager

Tell us more about your role.

I ensure product is received at our facilities in a timely and accurate fashion. I also arrange shipping of client orders throughout the US along with vendor returns.

What do you like most about your job?

I enjoy the team I work with around the warehouse and the challenges the job brings. I get great satisfaction seeing hundreds of appliances roll through the doors every day.

Tell us about your family.

I am married for 26+ years to Lezli. We have a daughter, Larissa 24, and a son, Jeffrey 20. We also have our dog Hazel at home.

What was your first job?

A dishwasher at Perkins, I still hate syrupy plates to this day.

What do you like to do on your days off?

I like to backpack on the SHT and work on restoring/modifying my Jeep Wrangler. I am hoping it will be done this year to take it out to Moab.

What three words would you use to describe Warners’ Stellian?

Family, Opportunity, Growth

What’s your favorite appliance, and why?

Range, I have always been the cook in our family. I finally got my dream LG dual fuel slide in range 2 years ago when we remodeled our kitchen.

Tell us something about you that would surprise us or that most people don’t know.

I suffered the “widow maker” heart attack while driving with my wife and daughter 5 years ago. I spent 6 days in ICU under ECMO bypass. It has made me appreciate all the little things in life.

What is the one thing you cannot live without?

My family, I will do anything for them.

If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

That would be chickpea masala with jasmine rice.

What is your favorite thing to do?

Right now it is collecting Bourbon and Rye whiskey, and of course enjoying it.

Spotlight Series: Rebecca Uhrig from Merchandising

This month we’re meeting Rebecca Uhrig from our Merchandising Team at HQ!

What is your role at Warners’ Stellian?
Pricing and Promotions Assistant.

Tell us more about your role.
A lot of my work is behind the scenes. I assist in promotional pricing, keeping digital tags working, but most people know me through my work with our rebates.

What do you like most about your job?
Definitely the people I work with. Who surrounds you makes things better and you actually look forward to coming to work!

Tell us about your family.
Most of my family still lives in Kansas, but my mom lives in Mankato. I have a younger brother currently in Des Moines going to Drake. I have two cats, Macintosh and Crookshanks. They were both adopted in Kansas, but like living here especially when it snows.

What was your first job?
My first job was in high school, a seasonal position at JoAnn Fabrics. Most of my paycheck when back into JoAnn buying art supplies!

What do you like to do on your days off?
Some days I’ll hit up a brewery with friends, otherwise working on some project around the house or hanging out with my cats. They love weekends when I’m home.

What three words would you use to describe Warners’ Stellian?
Close-knit, challenging, and fun.

What’s your favorite appliance, and why?
Probably the refrigerator. Aside from my love of food, they’re the star of the kitchen.

Tell us something about you that would surprise us or that most people don’t know.
I can’t read my original birth certificate, since it’s in German! My dad was in the military. I wasn’t born on the base, but in a German hospital.

What is the one thing you cannot live without?
I’m torn on this, there’s so many things I want to list. But in day-to-day life, I definitely need my coffee. Close second would be my phone.

If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I’d have to pick pizza. You can change the toppings to make entirely new flavors. I’m also a firm believer that fruit has its place on pizza.

What is your favorite thing to do?
Something creative: art, quilting, baking, reading. I like creating things and making something out of nothing. My most recent project was a quilt for my cousin in celebration of her wedding!

DCS Liberty Grills Provide Entertaining Freedom

The classic grill configuration doesn’t make for easy entertaining. Think about it: you flip the top to land about even with your mouth, which maybe doesn’t matter, as you typically locate your gas grill against something (a wall, a deck, a fence) anyway.

How are you supposed to conversate? Who wants to gather round that?

Now imagine a setup where the grill is more like a cooktop… just open, with no top to baffle your babble or keeps guests away.

OK, stop imagining; I found my picture of it.

DCS Liberty Grill

Those who have lots of friends and parties (and are into that kind of stuff) will probably wonder why no one thought of this before. This being the DCS Liberty, which “even allows you to effortlessly host an omelet bar in your outdoor kitchen.” Well thank goodness!

It’s called the Liberty because all the individual applications free up your outdoor living design, unhinging it from all those icky conventions and letting you enjoy your outdoor cooking experience along with – instead of apart from – all your friends.

You can pretty much mix and match all the individual pieces in the DCS Liberty Collection to do whatever you want. This curved shape lets everyone gather round (pun intended).

Take Your Kids to Work Day at Warners’ Stellian

Warners’ Stellian is not only a family-owned business, but we employ Warner fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, cousins, nieces and nephews…you name it! (In fact, we’re proud recipients of the 2012 St. Thomas University Entrepreneur Awards Family Business of the Year).

But we’re really proud of the fact that some of our longtime employees also bring their children and family members on to get jobs here.

You can see we truly value the importance of family, which is why we were so excited when our staff participated in Take Your Kids to Work Day.

taketoworkday2012

Our five guests – Leeah, Jordan, Preston, Addy, and Jessica – toured our office and appliance warehouse, participated in a mock interview, visited our Woodbury appliance store, watched our Styrofoam compacter in action, learned how we design our advertisements and rode in a delivery truck and a forklift, which was the crowd favorite.

We look forward to having them every year and who knows? Maybe we’ll be working with them in the future.

Extreme Coffee

Me & dad mug for a post-coffee serving photo. Now that the sale had begun, we needed get inside to help!

Thank you to the thousands of people who braved the beautiful weather to shop the Warners’ Stellian Appliance Extreme Warehouse Sale this past weekend.

Here’s the recap, in photos:

discountappliances

Hundreds of Minnesotans (and some out-of-staters) lined up for the doors to open to our warehouse sale March 12, 2012. Sure it was nice, but I’ve seen a similar size line in blizzard conditions. We’re hardy here!

jeffwarner

My dad, Jeff Warner – president of Warners’ Stellian – wears the same ugly striped knit hat he’s been wearing since before I was born while serving coffee to our customers waiting in line before the warehouse sale started.

…And they’re off! Our appliance warehouse sale doors opened at 7 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2012.
