Win tickets for this weekend’s Homes By Architects Tour

Note: Tell me why you’d like to go to AIA-MN’s Homes By Architects Tour in the comments by 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14 for a chance to score a pair of tickets. I’ll probably choose at random, unless someone writes a super good comment.

I’m in love with the kitchen from the Star Tribune’s September Home of the Month (see the photo gallery).

The article talks about how the homeowners worked with Nguyen Architects to open up their fixer-upper Lake Minnetonka home, including adding priceless views to their “cave-like kitchen”:

The most dramatic improvement is that Jen can look at the lake through massive picture windows while she chops veggies.

I guess that’s the benefit of working with an architect (and living on Lake Minnetonka) — changing a sore spot into a functional, thoughtful and of course, beautiful, space.

Home No. 9

es By Architects Tour, happening Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 18-19 from 10-5.

We supplied the appliances for this gorgeous project, as well as those in the kitchen of the No. 9 home.

Get a video sneak peak of this European-inspired kitchen from Carla Warner and architect Rosemary McMonigal, AIA, of McMonigal Architects LLC:

Tickets are $15 online, $20 at the door. Plus, we’re giving you several chances to win a pair of tickets (see note above and our Twitter and Facebook) prior to this weekend.

  1. I like the mix of urban and suburban homes on the architects tour. I have a 1920s craftsman home in south Minneapolis and am mining this blog site, and hope to attend a few home tours to continue generating remodeling ideas. My improvement guidelines are functionality, combined with quality and durability, energy efficiency and high standards for appearance. Thanks for the info!

    1. Kevin,

Agreed. AIA-MN did a great job of breaking down the types of projects on the tour website. Thanks for commenting.

    2. Congratulations Kevin, you’re the winner! I’ll e-mail to coordinate. Thanks again for participating.

      1. Thanks, Julie!

I’m thrilled! I’m happy to have discovered your blog because, like so many, I really research things prior to making a move. The site is filled with excellent info. Of course, with the Twins steaking to another Division title, I couldn’t be happier to read your announcement!

        Thanks again, Kevin

  2. My wife and I would love to go to the Homes by Architects Tour…we have been talking of building our dream home for a couple of years now and love to get different ideas to incorporate into our plan. We are getting very close to pulling the trigger so this tour is very timely.

And of course, we would love to see (and dream about) all of the appliances we can get at Warners’ Stellian! 🙂

    Love your blog…Thanks.

    1. Thanks for compliments, Chad. I hope you make it out on the tour this weekend…let us know how it goes!

    1. The one in the video? It’s a Gaggenau — very cool, European stuff.
