The Appliance Stimulus is back, at Warners’ Stellian through Sunday, March 3

Warners’ Stellian re-created the government’s Cash for Clunkers-style appliance rebate program that was so popular, it crashed the state’s website a few years ago. Not everyone got to take advantage of the limited rebates, and customer requests for similar savings was huge.

Plus, many needed new dryers, microwaves and ranges, which were excluded from the government’s program. Our event has become wildly popular, so we’ve made it an annual mainstay and continue to make it bigger each year.

Like the state’s program in 2010, rebates must be reserved online at warnersstellian.com. Participants may receive up to $1,700 in rebates total but will receive at least $100 in many cases per appliance.

Sample rebates include:

$150 rebate on a refrigerator that costs between $1,000 and $1,4999
$100 rebate on a dishwasher that costs between $499 and $999
$200 for a cooking appliance which costs between $1500 and $2499.99

$50 for a freezer which costs between $299 and $499
$50 for a vacuum which costs more than $328

Appliance stimulus rebates available again for a limited time

The rush for appliances was so great, we made the news a few times.

Remember the appliance stimulus — sometimes known as Cash For Clunkers Appliances — that happened a couple years ago?

We saw a huge response to the mail-in rebates offered by the state government on refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers and washers.

But not everyone got to take advantage of the limited rebates.

And what about those who need new dryers and stoves, too?

So, this year, we created our own appliance stimulus rebates.

Beginning now, you can reserve a Appliance Stimulus Rebate at Warners’ Stellian, good Feb. 25 through March 4.

What’s different?

  • We decided to included non-Energy Star products so people could get rebates things like ranges/stoves, dryers, ovens and cooktops that didn’t qualify for the government appliance rebates – even vacuums
  • You’re not limited to just one rebate, which means you can get up to $1,600 total in rebates. Buy a laundry pair and get rebates on both the washer and dryer (and grab an extra $50 on qualifying pairs!). You are, however, limited to one rebate per appliance category with the exception of cooking; for instance, you can get a rebate on both a cooktop and wall oven.
  • Most major brands are participating, though we can’t offer rebates on UMRP products (see store for details).
  • See more details here

You must register for a rebate online so we can e-mail you a confirmation page. Print it out and present it at any of our 7 Minnesota kitchen showrooms, and we’ll help you get a super good appliance deal on something you’re just going to love putting in your home.

Water heater tax credit 2011

If you bought a water heater this year — or think yours should be replaced soon — this post could be worth $300 to you.

KSTP reported last night that taxpayers have until the end of 2011 to buy energy efficient products to qualify for incentives, such as a $300 water heater tax credit. See the website for full details on what qualifies and the maximum amounts you can receive.

Also if you for replace your water heater with an energy efficient model, local utility companies such as Xcel and Centerpoint both offer water heater rebates (about $40-$200) , which you can find on the Database of State Incentives for Renewables & Efficiency.

Xcel will pay you $70 to retire your beer fridge

Xcel wants your beer fridge. And if you’re a residential customer in Minnesota, Xcel will actually pay YOU $70 to come pick it up and recycle it.

Usually, Xcel pays $35 (I did this back in January; shame I didn’t wait), but the retirement reward is double now through the end of November 2011.

To qualify, it must be a functional, second refrigerator, capable of making ice.

Now, just imagine the happiness you can buy me with that $70.

Don’t be greedy, that’s my commission. You’ll agree once you hear how much a beer fridge costs to run.

Not an Xcel customer? Minnesota Power offers up to $85 to pick up old, working refrigerators. Here’s a list of energy providers with similar programs.

Visit Energy Efficient Homes on Tour for your Warners’ Stellian coupon

Those who’ve been on the Parade of Homes tour know the fun of imagining their own dream home, and perhaps even building it.

Hanley Wood just rated three Minnesota counties within its top 10 of 25 counties for remodeling potential in 2011, but there’s something to be said for new homes.

Not only are they just plain new with style and amenities unavailable elsewhere, they offer unparalleled options for energy efficiency.

From the tour:

All Minnesota new homes are constructed to some of the strictest energy standards in the nation. But some go a step beyond. That’s what our new Energy Efficient Home Tour is all about. The Parade of Homes is showcasing those homes that are proven energy savers, in which the builder has taken an added measure to ensure that they perform to even tighter energy standards.

While some are certified ENERGY STAR®, MN GreenStar, LEED-H, or Wisconsin Green Build, all have been rated by an independent firm to verify that they are, indeed, energy-efficient homes.

Energy efficient doesn’t mean inaccessible. EEHT homes begin as low as a $138,000 townhouse in Rosemount.

And, if you visit an Energy Tour home, pick up a special coupon good at Warners’ Stellian for 10% off Select ENERGY STAR appliances and cooking appliances. Offer good on orders $499.95 through April 30 (restrictions apply). ENERGY STAR appliances use up to 50% less energy and water than standard new appliances, saving you money in the long run even though they usually cost a little bit extra at the time of purchase.

Three days left to get an appliance stimulus rebate

If you haven’t registered yet, you still have three days left to cash in on the 2011 Appliance Stimulus.

The deals are pretty exceptional, seeing as you get at least a $100 rebate on most dishwashers and refrigerators and our average customer buying a washer and dryer pair is getting a $150 rebate ($50 each, plus a bonus $50 for buying a qualifying pair).

Plus, that stove or dryer you needed last March that didn’t qualify for a rebate? This time it does. You can get at least a $100 rebate on most stoves.

See our appliance stimulus webpage for full details on rebate amounts, participating brands and — most importantly — how to register.

Missed last year’s ‘Cash for Appliances’?

We WERE the news for a couple days.

My appliance career peaked too early, last March to be exact.

The apex of discount appliances happened March 1, 2010 when the “Cash for Appliances” appliance rebate reservations began in MN.

The appliance stimulus, as we refer to it, promised money back on refrigerators, freezers, washers and dishwashers.

I was in heaven for that week. People got as excited about appliance deals then as we are every day here.

Many tried to take advantage of those appliance rebates, but only about 30,000 got to cash in their appliance “clunkers.” Many others were left without the appliance deal and are still waiting to replace.

Our appliance sales remained good in the months that followed, don’t get me wrong, but people still asked about the possibility of getting a big rebate for replacing an appliance. And we missed having a appliance rebate stimulus, too, frankly.

So we made our own 🙂

Beginning now, you can reserve a Appliance Stimulus Rebate at Warners’ Stellian, good Feb. 26 through March 6.
