Best sellers: Dacor gas cooktop

Looking at which models land among our best sellers list can offer much insight into what features most people want.

In terms of high-end gas cooktops, one of the products leading the pack is the Dacor Preference gas cooktop (Dacor 30″ 4-burner gas cooktop #RGC304 and the Dacor 36″ 5-burner gas cooktop #RGC365).

Check ’em out:

Dacor Preference Renaissance 4-burner gas cooktop for $1,629
Dacor Preference Renaissance 5-burner (36") gas cooktop for $1,689

Looking at the pictures, it’s easy to see why; they give off a more simple sophistication than other professional-style cooktops.

Why are they one of the top sellers?

  • Clean-ability
    • Bead-blasted stainless steel into the spillover area is so easy to clean and it resists scratching
  • Continuous platform grates are extra wide so you use any size pot or pan on any burner and easily move them around
  • Burner knobs cast a blue light (they call this Illumina…oooh) when gas is on
  • Single-point ignition
    • when you call a burner to light, the rest of them won’t click and spark, which means it lasts longer and is less-annoying

Side note: Scratch-resistance is so important. I can’t tell you how many beautiful stainless steel cooktops I’d clean at the stores, only to find scratches where the grates often rub against.

  1. Julie,
I am looking to do a little work in my kitchen and my contractor suggested I look into a new gas cooktop and fridge. The existing cooktop is a stainless Thermador, probably from the 70’s/80’s.
I don’t have to stick with a cooktop that fits exactly in that space, do I? I am planning on replacing my counters so the hole can differ in size a bit. My gas line comes up from the cupboard under the cooktop.
Do you have a couple suggestions, as what I should look at first?

    1. Marsha,

First, is your Thermador a Cook N’ Vent model that has a vent attached though? As for suggestions, of course Dacor is a worthy option — thanks Tim.

But of course it depends on what you’re looking for and how you will use it. Some of the best questions to help guide your selection are what you like and dislike about your current model.

  2. Hi Marsha,
Our Dacor RGC cooktops combine power and style to bring the appliance we use most in our kitchen to life. Easy to keep clean with long lasting brass components, I’m sure you’ll be amazed a what we have to offer in the Dacor line of cooktops. The good people at Warners Stellian can maximize your buying experience and make it easy for you to enjoy your new cooktop just as soon as you’re ready. Have a great day!

  3. My Cook’n’Vent has the pop up vent, that when not in use, is pretty flush with the counter top.
I need four burners and the top should be easy to clean. I really don’t want to mess with my gas lines too much.

    1. Marsha-

I am a big advocate of Dacor products….I think you would be very pleased with their cooktop/downdraft combo.
My favorite feature of that cooktop is the “bead-blasted” stainless steel surface. It is very attractive, but most importantly, it is very easy to clean. It is much less likely to scratch when compared to a brushed stainless surface. There are many other features that I am certain you would appreciate, please contact me at the store if you would like to speak further!

      Thank you,
